The NEF Student Workshop 2004 was held in two villages (Citalahab and Cihamerang) near Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park, Indonesia, for 10 days (from 15 to 24 March 2004). With the support of National Park staff, researchers, local NGOs and local residents, the participants joined a variety of activities and learned research methods related to the conservation and monitoring of endangered wildlife. In addition, they interacted with the local community through 'home stay' programmes at Citalahab and Cihamerang and educational conservation activities at local primary schools.
Fifteen students on NEF scholarships from five universities in Indonesia were invited along with university lecturers as well as staff from NEF counterpart organizations. For the purpose of international exchange, a Japanese student from the Tokyo College of Conservation and Civil Engineering also participated in this workshop. |
